This Memorial Day Weekend, Bob Means Plumbing is proud to continue its tradition of honoring those who have served our country with an unforgettable evening of baseball, fireworks, and community support. On Friday, May 23, 2025, join us at FNB Field for Military Appreciation Night, as the Harrisburg Senators take on the Chesapeake Baysox in a celebration of service and sacrifice—all in support of Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania (VOPA).
A Community Celebration with Purpose
Military Appreciation Night has become a highlight of the holiday weekend in Harrisburg, and this year marks BMP’s third consecutive year sponsoring the event. What began as the “Armed Forces Day Celebration” has grown into a powerful show of support for veterans in our region.
The evening’s festivities begin at 7 PM, with fans gathering to enjoy America’s favorite pastime while recognizing those who’ve answered the call to serve. A post game fireworks show, sponsored by Bob Means Plumbing, will light up the sky as a fitting tribute to the evening’s honorees.
Adding to the excitement, members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be on-site to meet with fans, share their stories, and honor fellow service members. The Harrisburg Senators will also wear specialty jerseys, which will be auctioned off through the weekend, with proceeds going directly to VOPA.
Supporting a Meaningful Cause: Veterans Outreach of PA
For Bob Means Plumbing, the decision to support Veterans Outreach of PA is both meaningful and mission-driven. VOPA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating homelessness among veterans by offering housing, services, and a supportive community designed specifically for their needs. This year’s Military Appreciation Night carries extra significance—Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania’s tiny home community has now been open for a full year, and the impact is already being felt. Located along the Susquehanna River in South Harrisburg, the five-acre site is home to 15 tiny houses and a community center, offering veterans not just a place to live, but a structured path forward.
Since opening in June 2024, VOPA has welcomed veterans into the program, providing safe housing, essential services, and a supportive environment that fosters dignity and independence. Several participants have already graduated from the program, moving forward with the tools and confidence they need to thrive.
To support their growing community, VOPA has launched the “$15 for 15” campaign, a grassroots effort to fund day-to-day operations for each of the 15 homes.
